Janet George
Raleigh, North Carolina

Janet George is a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist and lives in Raleigh, NC. She currently works as a School Age Specialist at Child Care Services Association providing technical assistance and training to out of school time programs (after school, track out, summer camp) to help increase quality and to prepare for State Licensing. Janet is also a strong advocate for inclusion of children with special needs in community programs.

Janet has volunteered for Camp Blaze since 2002 offering administrative support, managing the digital media and creating slide shows for camp graduation, recruiting, and marketing activities.

Firefighter Dawn Judkins
Tukwila Fire Department

Dawn Judkins has worked for the Tukwila Fire Department since 2004 as a Firefighter and EMT. She is a member of the technical rescue team, which includes rope rescue, swift water rescue ,and structural collapse. Dawn grew up in Alaska and moved to the state of Washington to attend college. Firefighting wasnąt her first career. After graduation, she found herself in a cubicle in the finance world. Always wanting more out of life and her career, she began volunteering with the Duvall Fire Department. With firefighting, she found her passion: assisting people in the community, being active, and working with others who truly enjoy going to work everyday. On her days off, Dawn can be found hiking or snowboarding around the foothills of Washington and spending time with her family, friends, and two dogs.

Engineer Kim Green
Oakland Fire Department

Kim Green, known to all as Greenie, is an Engineer/Paramedic for the Oakland Fire Department since 2002. She has been active all her life and at nine years old was one of the first girls to play little league baseball after an appearance on the Mike Douglas Show. Greenie attended San Jose State University and majored in Biology while playing field hockey and softball. After college She donned a lab coat and worked for Chiron Corporation in Biotech Research and Development. At that time She also picked up rugby and began a very successful ten-year career that included seven National Championships with the Berkeley ALL-Blues and a chance to play on the USA Rugby team that traveled the world. In 2002 Greenie decided to align her career with her love of being active and desire to help others and became a firefighter for OFD. When not driving the fire engine, Greenie loves spending time with her horse Rocky, hanging out in the mountains with her sled dogs, or traveling the world looking for new adventures like canyoning and scuba diving.

Firefighter Karen Kerr
San Francisco Fire Department

Karen Kerr Stone was born and raised in New York City; at 23 she moved to San Francisco, California, a dream since age thirteen. She joined the San Francisco Fire Department in 1995. After 12 years as a firefighter, she was promoted to Lieutenant and now works on Engine 25 in the Bayview neighborhood. Karen has always been interested in social issues and is very involved with organizing and advocating for women firefighters, and with the community as an Associate Public Information Officer. Karen has been involved with Camp Blaze since its inception in 2001, as a Director, Crew Leader, and Board Member. After years of hiking, backpacking, and traveling to visit friends and new places in the US and the world, she is now married and a mother with a two year old son Calder. To relax, she creates glass sculptures, takes hikes with her family (including dog Simon) and cooks meals for her family and friends with Calder as her assistant in the kitchen.

Loren Little
Prince William County Fire Department

Loren Little lives in the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia where she is currently training for her first Ironman-length triathlon. She recently left her career of eight years as a firefighter/medic to pursue her dream of running her own business. She is a busy mother of five. She started with Camp Blaze in 2005 as a crew leader and moved to director in 2009. She loves trail running so be sure and pack your running shoes for camp!

Battalion Chief Jenny Ray
Oakland Fire Department

Born and raised in Oakland, California, Jenny Ray joined the Oakland Fire Department in 1991. After working in some of Oakland's busiest fire houses and being involved in training over one hundred recruits, she has worked her way through the ranks and now holds the position of Battalion Chief. She has a Bachelor's of Science degree in Physical Educations and a Master's degree in Public Administration, both from California State at Hayward. Before becoming a firefighter she loaded UPS trucks, delivered flowers, waitressed, worked in childcare and landscaping and worked in an ACE Hardware store. She enjoys walking in the Oakland and Berkeley hills with her dogs.

Firefighter/Paramedic Erin Richardson
East Pierce Fire and Rescue

Erin is a Firefighter/Paramedic with East Pierce Fire and Rescue, she has been with the department 5 years. She is active with the union, on the Executive Board. Erin spends her off-time with family and friends enjoying the outdoors.She also likes to travel.

Paramedic Penny Stone
Seattle Fire Department

Penny Stone is a firefighter/paramedic who has been with the Seattle Fire Department since 1995. Penny enjoys teaching continuing education for Firefighters and Paramedics. In addition she runs the "Medics on Bikes" program for Medic One. She graduated from Florida State University where she played basketball for the Lady Seminoles and earned an Exercise Physiology degree. Penny was also a member of the 1984 and 1988 Olympic Team in Team Handball. In her spare time, Penny enjoys hiking, biking, and spending time with her 2 year old son and her Coon Hound, Simon.

Firefighter Alissa Van Nort
San Francisco Fire Department

Alissa Van Nort began her career with the San Francisco Fire Department in 1997. Before the fire service, Alissa worked as a carpenter, a ropes course instructor, and as a workshop educator. Her undergraduate degree is from Wesleyan University in Connecticut, continued with master's level work in Organizational Development. For relaxation and nourishment, she reads, swims, runs, cooks, and travels to visit friends and family. Working on Blaze is an honor and a dynamic challenge.
